DEVOLIN ANNOUNCES THE START OF SERVICE CANADA OUTREACH IN FENELON FALLS AND AN INCREASE IN SUPPORT FOR
HALIBURTON
LINDSAY - Local MP Barry Devolin is pleased to announce the start of
Service Canada outreach beginning Thursday February 1st at the
Fenelon Falls Library from 10:00am – 2:00pm. The service will then
be available on the first and third Thursdays of every month with
the next opportunity to meet staff on February 15th.
“This is an idea I’ve been promoting since 2004,” said Devolin.
“I feel it’s important to bring federal government services
closer to the people. This is especially true in a large rural area
like this with a high population of seniors with little public
transit available.”
Service Canada staff will provide information and assistance with
various Government of Canada programs and services, including
Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security
applications, Social Insurance Numbers and Pleasure Craft Licences.
“In early October, Service Canada started outreach at Fleming
College in Haliburton between 10:00am and 2:30pm once a month, and
now they will be increasing that to twice a month starting in early
February to every second and fourth Wednesday,” said Devolin.
“Prior to this outreach service, residents needing assistance with
federal programs or services had to travel to a Service Canada
office in Lindsay, Peterborough, Huntsville or elsewhere.”
“The goal of Service Canada is to provide better, one-stop service
to more Canadians in more communities, delivered with the right
service attitude,” said Devolin. “The outreach program will
bring services from a number of federal departments into a single
delivery network that makes it easier for Canadians the help they
need in one place.”
