“DEVOLIN ANNOUNCES CELEBRATE CANADA FUNDING FOR KAWARTHA LAKES”

LINDSAY - Local MP Barry Devolin, on behalf of the Honourable Bev Oda, Minister of Canadian Heritage, has announced a total of $8000 for Celebrate Canada projects in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The money will be used to help cover some of the costs of the various Canada Day celebrations taking place all in nine communities across the municipality. Events such as live music, fireworks, children's activities and parades will be offered. Participating communities include; Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls, Kinmount, Lindsay, Little Britain, Norland, Omemee, Woodville and Coboconk

“Celebrate Canada activities have become a tradition offering Canadians the opportunity to share their pride in their country,” said Devolin. “The success of these events is due, in great part, to the volunteer members who work tirelessly to ensure each Canadian has an opportunity to enjoy local celebrations.”

“Canada Day is an opportunity to gather in our communities, from coast to coast to coast, and to proudly celebrate all we have in common,” said Devolin. “It is an opportunity to celebrate our achievements, which were born in the audacious vision and shared values of our ancestors, and which are voiced in nearly all of the languages of the world through the contribution of new Canadians. “
