DEVOLIN ANNOUNCES CELEBRATE CANADA FUNDING FOR BROCK TOWNSHIP

CANNINGTON - Local MP Barry Devolin, on behalf of Heritage Minister Bev Oda, has announced a total of $1900 for two separate Celebrate Canada projects in Brock Township.

The Cannington Lions Club will receive $1500 to help cover the costs of their Canada Day celebration while the Beaverton Fireworks Committee will get $400 to purchase fireworks. Both events plan such things as children’s activities, live entertainment and fireworks.

“Celebrate Canada activities have become a tradition offering Canadians the opportunity to share their pride in their country,” said Devolin. “The success of these events is due, in great part, to the volunteer members who work tirelessly to ensure each Canadian has an opportunity to enjoy local celebrations.”

I’d like to thank Walter Schummer of the Cannington Lions Club and Steve Murray of the Beaverton Fireworks Committee for their hard work and their successful application for funding,” stated Devolin. “One of the most rewarding things that I do as your MP is to have the opportunity to thank volunteers for their hard work and commitment to making our communities better.”
