DEVOLIN ANNOUNCES CELEBRATE CANADA FUNDING FOR KAWARTHA LAKES

LINDSAY - Local MP Barry Devolin, on behalf of Heritage Minister Bev Oda, has announced a total of $8000 for Celebrate Canada projects in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The money will be used to help cover some of the costs of the various Canada Day celebrations taking place all across the municipality. Events such as live music, fireworks, children's activities and parades will be offered.

“Celebrate Canada activities have become a tradition offering Canadians the opportunity to share their pride in their country,” said Devolin. “The success of these events is due, in great part, to the volunteer members who work tirelessly to ensure each Canadian has an opportunity to enjoy local celebrations.”

I’d like to thank Shelley Cooper with the City of Kawartha Lakes and the municipality’s Economic Development Department for their hard work and their successful application for funding,” stated Devolin. “Having the opportunity to thank people for their hard work and commitment to making our communities better is one of the most rewarding things that I do as your MP.”

“Canada Day is an opportunity to gather in our communities, from coast to coast to coast, and to proudly celebrate all we have in common,” said Devolin. “It is an opportunity to celebrate our achievements, which were born in the audacious vision and shared values of our ancestors, and which are voiced in nearly all of the languages of the world through the contribution of new Canadians. “
