“LOCAL CONSERVATIVE PARTY DOES NOT SUPPORT OR ENDORSE ANY MUNICIPAL CANDIDATE”
October 10, 2006
LINDSAY – Local President of the Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock Conservative Party Riding Association would like to remind residents that the party does not support or endorse any candidate in the upcoming municipal elections.
“We have been informed recently that a number of telephone calls have been made to our membership list alleging that we as a party locally are supporting a slate of municipal candidates in Kawartha Lakes, and this is not true,” said Terry Franklin, President of the HKLB CPC Riding Association. “At this point we are not sure who is making these calls, but I want to make it clear what the callers are alleging is false.”
“I was shocked to learn this kind of thing was taking place,” said Franklin. “To the best of my knowledge, no federal or provincial political party or riding association has ever endorsed municipal candidates in this riding.”
“I’m demanding the person or persons responsible for the phony phone calls stop at once,” stated Franklin. “Our membership list is private property and is not to be used for anything other than party business. Our members expect and have a right that their private information is not used for other purposes.”
